Artist: Sally Mann

Sally Mann is one of my favorite photographers. Her works span from the early 70's to current. Her photographs have a dream like ambience in black & white, the content of the photographs range from landscapes, to decaying bodies to family and friends. Her photo series of Family Pictures are the ones I am drawn to most.

Kumi Yamashita

The japanese artist, Kumi Yamashita creates her art based on shadow: she is a "shadow artist". I find her work remarkable and mysterious in some way. Her artwork is delicate and impressive. I am very inspired by her originality, and her use of materials to create a work so unique.

Artist - Shari Pryce

There’s an artist named Jen Stark who I recently discovered. She does various forms of art such as animations, drawings, and sculptures. I love the vibrant colors and layers that she uses to create her work.

Artist - Cait May

My inspiration for the portrait piece is also an artist, a 90 year old artist who revolutionized the comic book industry. I've always been a huge fan of Stan, and his work has helped me along my path as an illustrator. I hope I keep reading his comics until I can't read any more :)

Here is a compilaton of cameo moments featuring Stan in the Marvel movies:

To select a favorite artist would be almost impossible for me, as I draw my inspiration from many sources....but narrowing it down, I would have to say Janeen Mason and Jennie Breeden.
Janeen works as an illustrator for childrens' books, and her watercolors and gouaches are so incredibly detailed and vibrant!

Jennie Breeden is the webcomic artist for "The Devil's Panties," "Customers Suck," "Geebas on Parade," and "Vampire Rave," and is my true inspiration. I follow her work intently and love her unique style, and also her hilarious dialogue.

So that's that! These are the artists that helped me become the way I am now :)

Cam's Artist Inspiration

Ghada Amer is my artist inspiration for this week, since I feel that she fits in with the theme of my project. Amer often works from pornography making paintings about femininity and sexuality. She blurs the lines of painting and drawing by both embroidering and using acrylic paint in her works.
